The Lord said to Abram, “lift up your eyes from where you are and look ….” (Gen.13:14) Abram was not in a good place but it was a place of transition. By faith, he had given his nephew Lot the freedom to choose the choicest land and he is now left with a poorer land. So what next? The Lord told him to lift up his eyes, to look beyond where he was standing, to look beyond his undesirable position, to not be discouraged or depressed. To look up and see what God had in store for him. When Abram did that, he took hold of God’s promise. If Abram had remained disheartened and not lifted up his eyes, then he would not have seen the blessing. That’s exactly what you may need to do today – while standing in the position of disadvantage, the place of disfavor or the land of barrenness, the Lord says, “lift up your eyes from where you are and look at what I will give you and your offspring for ever!” Look, see and take hold of God’s promise to you! Look beyond your present circumstances and your current problems. As you walk with God today, lift up your eyes to heaven and look to the God of all hope, look at what God has in store for you as promised in His Word (Jer.29:11-13), look at the opportunities and not the closed doors, look at what you have and not what you don’t have, look at the cross – a sign of how God can turn darkness into light, tears into joy and death into life! And have a great day! Rejoice in the Lord, and again I say rejoice!

Today’s Bible text: 14 The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring for ever. 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.” 18 So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the LORD. (Gen.13:14-18)
