The believer ought to live in the constant state of restedness and peace because the Lord knows us by name and He knows those who are His! Funny thing is, many Christians don’t live like that, in fact, some are in the constant state of anxiety. To believe in Jesus and to be constantly or frequently anxious is an oxymoron. The two should not be true at the same time. They are incompatible because believing in Jesus means trusting Him in all things and believing that He is still Lord though things may not go our way. I am not saying that Christians cannot be anxious at all, of course, we all do get anxious from time to time. However, we should not be in a state of perpetual anxiety because that would only demonstrate a lack of true faith in Christ. When we get anxious, we need to remember and read again 2Tim.2:19 that reminds us, “the Lord knows those who are His”. And if we know that the Lord knows those who are His, then what is too great an obstacle and what is too big a problem that God and us cannot handle? As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God’s ways over our ways, God’s thoughts over ours. Sometimes we may not understand the insanity all around us, but God is not insane and His ways are perfect, so we can keep trusting Him. I find this statement by Steve Estes helpful, “sometimes God allows what He hates to accomplish what He loves.” It’s so true and I pray that as you walk with God today, you’ll experience His goodness, love and faithfulness so that you will remain in a constant state of restedness and peace.
