Study – Obey – Teach

You want God’s blessings? First, host His presence (see my post just before this one).

Second, be like Ezra! We are told in Ez.7:6 that the non-Christian Persian king granted Ezra everything he asked because the hand of the Lord was on him. In verse 9 of the same chapter, we are told that Ezra arrived in Jerusalem safely and in good time because the gracious hand of the Lord was on him.

Do you want that kind of blessing? Do you want the gracious hand of the Lord to be on you? You can certainly have it if you imitate Ezra.

Verse 10 tells us the reason God’s gracious hand was on Ezra. “For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord , and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.”

Three things Ezra did in his life: First, he devoted himself to studying God’s Word; second, he devoted himself to the observance of God’s Word; and third, he taught and communicated God’s Word.

STUDY-OBEY-TEACH – that’s what Ezra did and that’s how he lived – and the result of it was that the gracious hand of the Lord was on him to bless him. If we want God’s blessings, we should do the same.
