Everyone in ministry has to constantly make a choice – whether to lead God’s people using plausible words of human wisdom OR to lead God’s people by a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.
Whichever ministry we may be involved in, when we lead with words of human wisdom, the faith of the people rests merely on men’s wisdom. And that doesn’t go very far. On the other hand, when we lead with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, the faith of the people rests on God’s power! That will go far and it changes our lives and the lives of those around us.
Spiritual power comes from intimacy with God. It is given to one who takes time to dwell in the secret place of the Most High and who abides in the shadow of the Almighty. That man or woman hosts the presence of God wherever he or she goes. And where the presence of God is, people will see a demonstration of the Spirit’s power!
2Cor.1:4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power. (NIV)
