Be very careful if you have a craving for adulation! Such a craving stems from insecurity. The greater the craving for adulation, the deeper the insecurity. Deep insecurity can cause severe depression and is utterly destructive. We must remember that as Christians, we are complete in Christ. When you make the Lord your Shepherd, Ps.23:1 tells us, “you shall not lack anything”! The same psalm also tells us, “goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life”. You and I do not have to chase after goodness and mercy, they follow us when we make Jesus our Shepherd.
The more you know Jesus, the greater will be your sense of security. As you walk with Jesus daily and when your put your trust in Him, nothing destabilises you, nothing depresses you because God works all things for the good for those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose. God has a plan for your life even though you may not feel or see it now. The devil will always try to rock our boats, he will keep deceiving us with his lies and devices, he will keep putting us down. He will tell you, “no one understands you” – possibly his greatest lie. But the truth is, God knows, God understands us.
When we continually fill our minds with the Word of God instead of filling our minds with the junk of the world such as depressive and angsty pop music, dark and gloomy movies and tv series, and books that encourage self-indulgence, God’s Word will transform our minds which is the battlefield. Whoever wins the mind, wins the battle. Also, keep surrounding yourself with godly friends, don’t quit church no matter how imperfect they are (for there is no such thing as a perfect church!). But if you find that you can grow in faith in another church, then go there. God’s Kingdom is bigger than one local church though you need to be cautious about church hopping. People who are in true Christian fellowship build up one another. When you persist in filling your mind with God’s Word, when you are part of a strong Christian community, when you stay close to the Lord and lean on Him completely in all things, you will be victorious in the end for in Christ, we are more than conquerors! If God is for us, who can be against us!!
