Christians Can Be Deceived!

Christians can be deceived! That’s right, I did say that Christians CAN BE DECEIVED. Jesus said in Mt.24:24, “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” And these deceivers who look and sound like Bible preachers and teachers will even perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. I believe in the supernatural and I believe that God still demonstrates signs and wonders today. But when signs and wonders are accompanied by false teachings, ungodliness, and the result of it is casual, compromised and lukewarm Christianity producing so-called “Christians” who want nothing but more material blessings, more comfort and more entertainment, then those teachings, signs and wonders are in reality the devices of Satan himself, designed to deceive Christians and undermine the church of Jesus Christ. Since false messiahs and false prophets are a reality, what ought we to do? First, study the Bible, get help if you don’t know how to read and understand it. Second, obey God’s Word and walk in holiness. If your knowledge of God’s Word does not transform you and change the way you live, if it doesn’t make you a servant and a disciple who is committed to God’s work and purposes, you have misread and misunderstood the Bible. Third, pray, spend time waiting on the Lord. Have a real, personal and intimate relationship with the Lord. Worship the Lord only. Love Him with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength. When you become a true disciple who is growing in your walk with God, growing in the knowledge of His Word and living out His purposes, you can easily detect false teachings, false Messiahs and false prophets when they come your way. Why? Because you have become intimately familiar with the real thing, and you can smell falsehood and fabrications from a mile away.
