In Ps.133, we read that where there is unity amongst fellow believers (from the church members to pastors and church leaders), there the Lord commands blessing and life forevermore. Yet it is not often easy to foster and maintain such unity and one key reason is because of close friendships. While we encourage deeper friendship and bonding, we must be careful not to let such closeness between a few people become a group with political power. It has happened many times and it must stop. Close friends must remain objective and fair when it comes to church matters, otherwise such relationships will become toxic and ruin the unity amongst fellow believers and God will not bless such a church!
Ps.133:1 Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the LORD has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.
