TWC – The Word Connects: Connecting you to God and to one another …
Sunday 16 September 2012
Back in April 2005, the Lord spoke to me in the middle of worship during a Sunday service, “You’ve been a Christian for 19 years, how are you going to spend your next 20?” I was stunned by the question and before I could answer, the Lord said, “I want you to spend your next 20 years focusing on the ministry of your greatest anointing – worship ministry.” I started to cry because I’ve been waiting for years for the Lord to give me His green light to focus on worship as my primary ministry and it’s finally here! While seeking the Lord a month later about this, I said, “Lord, a lot of people are already involved in worship ministry. Do you want me to do what they do? Or is there something more specific?” Immediately, the Lord gave me the word, “tears”. And He said, “there aren’t enough tears in worship”. My tears flowed and I felt my heart wrenched. I felt in my heart the burden and the longing that were on God’s heart. God desires to see tears in worship! My mind started to think about all the joy and celebration we have in worship, all the clapping, dancing and jumping. While we must have all that joyful celebration, but where are the deep moments in worship, when we enter into His holy presence, when we encounter the living God who is all grace, love and holiness; and when our only rightful response is tears in worship, tears from a heart so moved by the boundless love and the awesome holiness of God! King David said when he cried out in his communion with the Lord, “You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle.” (Ps.56:8) I believe the Lord collects the tears of the saints just as He collects our prayer in golden bowls (Rev.5:8). He does so because tears in worship are precious to Him, for they express a heart that yearns for God, a heart that loves Him and a heart that has been touched by His love. As you begin your walk with God today, as you enter into church today, enter with a heart that is moved afresh by the love and holiness of God. You’re not going to church to meet friends primarily, but to meet God. Worship Him and express the love and the longing in your heart for Him. Give Him your joy and offer Him your tears. Have a great worship!
Today’s Bible text: “You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?” (Ps.56:8)
